Pray for Libya

As we continue praying for our world, I urge you strongly to pray for Libya. Turn on the news and you hear stories of protest, unrest, revolt, and civil war. The United States and its allies have begun a military campaign against Libya's leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi. He has led Libya for 40 years, much of that time as an agent of terror. It seems as if the people have had enough. Rebel forces are taking a stand, but at the same time, paying a price.

Libya is heavily dependant upon its rich supply of oil, making the country one of the richest in Africa. Poverty is not a huge concern like it is in other parts of Africa. The people are predominately Muslim in faith. Islam accounts for 97% of the country's population. Christians make up a little over 1%. Fortunately, Christians can worship will little opposition from the government. Ironically, there is more governmental control in the Islamic institutions.

Please be in prayer for our missionaries in Libya. Be in prayer for the people of Libya. Right now, many civilians are trapped in their home due to the outbreak of fighting. Pray for our soldiers that are in harms way. Pray for peace and harmony to reign in the Libyian government. Pray ultimately that our hearts will rest in God's will.
