A Father Shows Compassion

The first moment that I found out my wife was pregnant with our firstborn, a compassion overwhelmed my heart that I can't explain outside of God.  It is the Holy Spirit of the Living God who filled my heart with a new beat for a being that had yet to be born.  Now, having two young children, I have such a compassion for them.  What I mean by compassion is that I want to meet their every need, help them overcome any trouble, and want them to have joy in all circumstances.

These characteristics are not naturally built inside of me.  Its God at work!  God makes good fathers, good fathers.  The fathers who are labeled bad are those who navigate life without Christ.  There has never been a transformation.  The flesh is gratifying its desires.  Thus, it makes sense that there is a lack of compassion.  The flesh mostly has compassion for itself.

I'm thankful for an earthly father, who walks in the Spirit.  He has shown compassion to me my whole life.  Today I will call him and wish him a Happy Father's Day!  However, its important for me to also thank my Heavenly Father, because He is the one who made my father a great father!  He has shown me compassion.  He wants to meet my every need, help me overcome trouble, and give me joy in all circumstances!

As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him.
Psalm 103:13
